Sunday Brunch and SOWA

Hello everyone,

I have never been a big fan of brunch because at some point in my childhood, I had a very bad experience with eggs, and I haven't been able to stand the taste of them since. And brunch? It's full of eggs!  However, there was an experience recently that has changed my opinion of eggs, and therefore, brunch!

We visited Stephanie's with Ted and Pamela on their last day, and here is where I found that eggs are not so bad after all!  

We began with a few different mimosas and a little bit of Bloody Mary (which kinda weirded me out ,not gonna lie).  Ok, celery and pickles in a drink?  weird, right?  Not my kinda drink, I must say..

These were much better  haha

We began with a little bit of pull-apart monkey bread,

then this dish.  

This dish is what changed my opinion on eggs.

Shakshuka.

Gotta love that name, right? haha

Tomato-y, flavorful, a little bit spicy, but not too much, and just all around delicious!  AND it didn't have meat or dairy (minus eggs) so happier tummy for me!

and the eggs? I couldn't even taste the specific taste that makes my insides turn, but it added a nice texture to the whole dish!  and the bread for dipping was really good too!

Thanks Stephanie's for changing my opinion on eggs, it has made many of my friends very, very happy!  =)

Afterwards, we visited SOWA for the first time!

How did I not know about this for nearly a year that I've been in Boston?!

For someone who loves farmers markets and food trucks, this was basically heaven!

two large courtyards filled with hundreds of different vendors, people milling about, eating, chatting, laughing..  the energy is practically buzzing, and I love it!

SOWA runs until October, so I'm really excited to return when the weather gets a little cooler! =)

Top of the Hub

Hello everyone!

We are continuing our adventures eating around Boston very, very high up in the air today!

While Ted and Pamela were in Boston, we wanted to take them to a special dinner, and Top of the Hub fit the bill perfectly!  

We made reservations a few days in advance, which we recommend since they are often completely booked!  Luckily, we got a window seat, so we got to enjoy the birds-eye view of the city while chatting, taking photos, and fully enjoying each other's company.

We started off with some cocktails before jumping into the main course.

I don't really drink, so David and I just shared one.  I actually don't even remember what this drink was called, but it was actually pretty good!  something about mint and lime...  haha

cheers to friendships, both new and old!  =)

We ordered a variety of main courses--a French Onion soup for Ted and Pamela,

a few different salads,

and of course, lamb for David and I.  We always get lamb whenever we go on a 'fancier' date, so this was a no brainer  =)

The Top of the Hub is on the pricy side, so it's definitely a special date kind of a place.  However, it was definitely worth going there for us because the view was incredible, the atmosphere was perfectly special yet not stuffy, and we had a wonderful time spending some quality time with our two friends we don't get to see very often at all.

If you have a special date coming up in Boston, we would highly recommend Top of the Hub. Just make sure to call ahead to make a reservation!  =)

MFA Boston

Hello everyone!

Whenever I visit a new city, I try to find time to visit their art museum.  Usually, just a quick visit doesn't leave enough time for a visit because I like to spend a couple of hours there at least, but whenever I've lived in a city, I have loved visiting as frequently as I can!  These are the posts about the art museums in Houston and Seattle, and finally, here is Boston!

I've actually visited 3 times already -- twice with David, and once with Ted and Pamela -- because it's that. awesome.  So here are a few photos from the multiple visits!

Boston MFA is gigantic, so before we went inside, we just walked around the perimeters looking at the different sculptures and the garden.

Once inside, we found ourselves a little bit overwhelmed.  There are so many wings, and exhibits are on 4 different floors!

So let me show you around a little bit and tell you what's at MFA Boston!

There are furnitures,

(I mean, I had to!  Hello, fancy music stand!)

Many different Asian art wings including paintings, sculptures, photography, etc that I explored with Ted and Pamela very thoroughly.

Exciting ceiling/mirror photo-op opportunities,

There are also a few different cafes where you can grab a few bites to refuel your body (because you will need to if you're going to try to conquer all of the exhibits)

yup.  I think that is what I meant to say.  haha

so of course, we had to recreate this painting that fascinated us so much.

Towards the end of the trip, we walked by this handsome, fashion forward gentleman who requested Pamela's hat.  Pamela was nice enough to let him borrow it for a photo  ;)

Since the camera was out anyway, we thought we'd snap a few photos ourselves  =)

What can we say, great minds think alike.

I love visiting the MFA, and It was so fun to explore the museum with some of my favorite peeps  =) I'm excited to go back once they have new exhibits up during the fall, and I hope you'll get a chance to go see it as well if you're ever in Boston!
