Brazos Bend

Hello everyone,

There's a place near Houston that looks like it's out of a fairy tale.  A fairy tale with alligators and poisonous snakes... but still, if you forget the inhabitants, it looks pretty darn magical.

Brazos Bend.

Here, let me show you a sneak peak of the place before you go in person.

I never thought of Houston as a particularly beautiful place, but then, I didn't know that only about an hour away, there was this gorgeousness waiting to be explored.

It is Houston, so the weather was pretty muggy, but it wasn't unbearably so!  It made for a pretty good exploring weather actually.

The park is apparently famous for its alligators, but we only saw a few of them, and I hardly think they are what people should visit this place for.  I mean, yeah, it's pretty cool to see them up close, but the beauty of the place is far more appealing than the alligators.

This was also the day we got to play around with our new portrait lens!
what do you think?  isn't the quality SOO much better than our older lens?

We're pretty happy with not only the clarity, but also how much light the lens lets in.
This means that we can play around with faster shutter speeds,

and that means we can capture split second images like me tripping over things.

you know, capturing the every day life in its entirety.  Exactly what we want to document.   haha

other than capturing embarrassing moments, the lens seems to also be good at capturing mid-flight animals, so that was pretty cool to discover  =)

and though it's a 'portrait' lens, it seems to have done pretty well with general scenery as well.

It was a wonderful day spent in incredibly beautiful surroundings.

and having this new lens to play around with makes me this happy!  ;)

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful weekend!
